Little League SB: New Tampa Won 7 - 4 in 9 innings over Sec- 7 / South Tampa
New Tampa Little League SB STATE CHAMPIONS!!
Move on to the Little League World Series - Southeast Regional Tournament!!!

Championship Game vs our neighbors, South Tampa.  A  7 - 4 win in 9 innings allowed our girls the first ever New Tampa Florida State Championship!!!
Words cannot describe how exciting this game was.  Butterflies for some and bats for others!!  We lost the coin toss so we were up 1st as the visiting team.  Maddy Hall got things started with a lead off hit.  Coach Lou decided to play a little "small ball" to get an early run so Kamryn Beach laid down a sac bunt which got Maddy all the way to 3rd on a heads up play as no one was there to cover.  Erica Matich came up and got the RBI on a ground out.  South Tampa got a hit in their half of the 1st inning but no runs came in.  Score after the 1st inning was 1 - 0.  In the 2nd inning, Reed Jahnke got us started with a hit followed by Brooke Diaz and a line shot double to have runners on 2nd and 3rd.  A strikeout and a pop out left us with those runners stranded and no runs.  South Tampa had 3 up 3 down.  Score at the bottom of the 2nd was 1 - 0.  Kamryn started the 3rd inning with a base hit and then stealing 2nd and was ale to score on Meagan Bell's double.  We had runners stranded on 2nd and 3rd again when our half ended.  South Tampa was able to get a couple of hits but our solid defense did not allow them to score.  Bottom of 3rd left us with a 2 - 0 lead.   The 4th inning was a quiet one for both sides as there was no change in the score.  The 5th inning started with a hit by Erica.  She was able to score off of Skyler Boynton's double to the fence.  Makaleigh Dooley came up with a single but we left runners stranded again.  South Tampa's 5th inning brought a hit and a walk but no runs allowed.  Score going into the last inning was 3 - 0.   The 6th inning gave New Tampa a hit, a sac fly, a ground out and a fly out and left a runner stranded at 3rd.  South Tampa started the 6th with a dropped foul ball giving the batter a 2nd chance.  She got a hit followed by the next 2 batters making the score 3 - 2 with a runner on 2nd and no outs.  A sac bunt got the runner to 3rd and we followed that with a strike out.  We were 1 out away.  South Tampa came up with a hit by 2nd and the game was tied at 3 -3.  The 7th and 8th innings were quiet on both sides with no runs as only 1 runner had reached base.  In the top of the 9th, Maddy started with a hit, followed by Kamryn's single.  We had a force out for the 1st out and then a passed ball allowed the runners to advance.  Skyler hit the ball to 3rd but the South Tampa player decided to hold the runners.  With 1 out and the bases loaded, Meagan Bell made the game breaking double to clear the bases and then going to 3rd on the throw home.  Makaleigh Dooley brought in Meagan on a sac fly to make the score 7 - 3.  South Tampa was able to generate a couple of hits and walks that made the game questionable, but Kamryn Beach came up big striking out the last 2 batters for a 7 - 4 State Championship victory.  For this game, New Tampa had 14 hits!!  Maddy pitched a great 5 2/3 innings keeping South Tampa off balance until the last inning but Kamryn was there to help her buddy out of the 6th and hold South Tampa down until we could put some more runs on the board.   What a great tournament.   CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!!

Senior BB New Tampa:  won 10 - 2 over D-13 Bloomingdale
New Tampa Little League SECTION IV CHAMPIONS!! Move on to the State Tournament!!!

The Senior boys advance to the State tournament in Melbourne Beach with a 10-2 win over Bloomingdale. Matt Miller pitched a complete game 4 hitter to get the win. The game was tied 2-2 into the top of the 5th before New Tampa got two runs for a 4-2 lead. Those runs were the result of a long home run off the bat of Zack Zaversnik following a double by Miller. New Tampa stopped a Bloomingdale threat in the bottom of the inning with a nice third to second to first double play. The game was broke open in the top of the 6th as New Tampa scored 6 runs. Hits by Will Ferguson, Mike Gozalez, Danny Molino, Ryan Lawson and Zaversnik helped produce the 6 runs. Alex Kranick had a hard hit ball to short that caused a bad throw allowing two runs to score. Big hits by Carl Fombrun and Bryan Karmann in our first game against North Lakeland helped build the momentum for the championship game. Collin Brich caught an outstanding first game the day before against North Lakeland as Mike Gonzalez pitched a five inning no hitter. Our number two pitcher Ryan Dolan wasn't even able to get to the mound as both starting pitchers finished with complete games. Ryan sure did get a workout though as we had him up and ready many times. He will be greatly needed next weekend at the state tournament.

Junior SB: New Tampa Lost 4 - 6 to Sec- 7 West Tampa in 10 innings
NTLL - Runner Ups

Well, the NTLL Jr.All Stars (13-14 yrs.) Softball Team played this weekend in Deland, FL for the Jr.Little League State Tournament and certainly made their mark at the State level.  I’m heading out on vacation in NC for the week, but I wanted to update you on our journey.  We thank the NTLL BOD for travel monies and strong support.  The mileage to Deland, to and from hotel to field and home to Tampa = 280 miles.  Thanks also to our parents whom got the girls to many a practice and our District 25 Championship after beating Dade City in 2 straight games with a best of 3 format and Section 4 Championship (earned as the only Jr.Roster coming from our Section) and making the Semi-Finals of the Florida State Jr.Softball Tournament.  Congrats to the Jr.All Stars on strong play and class acts representing NTLL!

Leah Vail pitched an epic LL game going 9.1 innings in 95 degree+ heat with 6 Ks and almost managed to complete the 10th inning till the gas ran out.  Jennifer Rennard finished the inning in relief.
Defensive play once again kept the game extremely close until the 3-3 tie was broken in the top of the 10th with West Tampa scoring 2 runs to take a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 10th.
The game was tied in the bottom of the 7th on a lead off single by Nicole Stannard whom advanced home on Nikki Keesee’s bunt where the throw to 1st was overthrown into RF.
The game was almost tied again the 10th after Gabbi Jacobs reached base on a walk and advanced to 2nd on a fielder’s choice.  After stealing 3rd base, she scored, but Nicky Dixon’s efforts to beat a run-down to 2nd ended in a put out resulting in the 3rd out and a 4-5 loss.
Defensive Stars in the Semi-Final game were Maria Horvath at 3B, Nikki Keesee at SS, Kayla Maczuga at 2B, Jennifer Rennard at 1B, Kaitlyn Ridolph at C and Nicky Dixon in CF, but Leah Vail’s efforts as the pitcher whom pitched a full 9 innings plus one batter in the 10th highlighted the “leave it all on the field” kind of defensive play.
Offensive Stars in the Semi-Final game were hits by Kayla Maczuga, Nicky Dixon, Leah Vail went 2-4 and Nicole Stannard
Congratulations to the Jr.All Star Roster of Kayla Maczuga, Nicky Dixon, Kaitlyn Ridolph, Leah Vail, Nicole Stannard, Maria Horvath, Nikki Keesee, Jessica Goldin, Jennifer Rennard, Maddie McCabe, Gabbi Jacobs, Haley Hawkins, Coach Greg Ridolph and Mgr.Scott Jacobs on strong representation of New Tampa LL at the State Tournament level and almost making the Championship Game scheduled to be played July 26th in Deland with West Tampa LL vs. Naples at 7:00pm.

July 24 Summary:

Little League SB: New Tampa Won 2 - 1 over SEC-5 / St Cloud

***New Tampa Advances to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME***

Game 3 vs St. Cloud:  Makaleigh Dooley pitched a gem of a game giving up only 1 hit and 1 unearned run striking out 6 in the complete game win.  It wasn't one of our better hitting days but we were able to get a couple of runs to win the game 2 - 1.  Meagan Bell hit a shot to the base of the fence for a double and was able to score on a passed ball to take the 1 - 0 lead.  2 innings later, Kamryn Beach started the inning with a single and Erica Matich laid down a sac bunt for Kamryn to advance and then take 3rd on a passed ball.  Skyler Boynton was able to hit a deep sac fly for Kamryn to score and give New Tampa the 2 - 0 lead.  An error in the 6th inning allowed St. Cloud 1 run but the runner was cut down on the play going to 2nd to end the game.

Junior SB: New Tampa Won 14 - 0 over SEC 5 / Sebastian River

Maria Horvath pitched 4 innings of shutout softball and Jennifer Rennard finished the game with 1 inning pitched for a mercy rule win in 5 innings.
New Tampa offensive highlights led by Kaitlyn Ridolph with a triple and singles scoring runs by Nicky Dixon, Gabbi Jacobs & Jennifer Rennard.
Every batting spot in the order scored at least once and several scored multiple times:  Jessica Goldin, Kaitlyn Ridolph, Maddie McCabe, Haley Hawkins and Jennifer Rennard
Superb defensive play by Kayla Maczuga, Nicole Stannard, Nikki Keesee & Leah Vail

Junior SB: New Tampa Lost 2 - 12 to SEC 6 / Naples
Leah Vail pitched 4 innings and Maria Horvath pitched 2 innings in the loss.
Defensive play was the problem with several missed opportunities allowing far too many runs to score without many earned runs.
Offensive highlights generated by hits by Kayla Maczuga, Nicky Dixon, Kaitlyn Ridolph and Leah Vail.
Although a loss occurred in the Pool Play, we managed to advance as Sebastian River lost both its Pool games and we finished 1-1 with 16 runs scored and 12 allowed in Pool Play.

Senior BB New Tampa:  Won  15 - 1  over Dist - 4 / North Lakeland
Mike Gonzalez pitches a five inning no-hitter for the win!

The Seniors started with a 15-1 win over North Lakeland on Saturday afternoon. New Tampa had 12 hits to lead to the five inning shortened game. New Tampa was led by Will Ferguson with three hits and Danny Molino, Matt Miller and Carl Fombrun with two each. Every position in the batting order scored at least one run. Bloomingdale also beat North Lakeland 10-4 earlier in the day,
We were playing Bloomingdale tonight for the Sectional title when the rains came. We are in the bottom of the second inning and have a 2-0 lead with Bloomingdale coming up to bat. We will pick up that game at the same spot tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM. The game is being played at South Brandon Little League on South Parsons in Brandon. Hopefully we can keep it going tomorrow.

July 23 Summary:

Little League SB: New Tampa Won 21 - 1 over SEC 2 / Vero Beach
Game 1 vs Vero Beach was played with Tropical Storm Bonnie overhead and a constant rain coming down.  The Vero Beach pitchers struggled to throw strikes while our pitchers were able to make Vero hitters swing in a 21 -1 wash out win.

Little League SB: New Tampa Won 4 - 3 over SEC 6 / Cape Coral
Game 2 vs Cape Coral was the 2nd game of the day and the rain was finally gone.  Cape Coral jumped out to a 2 - 0 lead after the 1st inning, but our girls chipped away with 1 run in the 3rd inning.  New Tampa took the lead with a pair in the 5th and added a big insurance run in the 6th inning.  With only 1 out, Cape Coral scored another run in the bottom of the 6th and then had the tying run on 3rd and the go ahead run on 2nd.  Maddy Hall struck out the last 2 batters to end the threat in a  4 - 3 victory.   Alyssa Wash got a single in the 3rd inning and was knocked in by Erica Matich to put us on the board.  Erica also started the 5th inning with a hit followed by Skyler Boynton's sac bunt.  Meagan Bell followed that with a bunt for a hit and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball.  Makaleigh Dooley came up big with a sac fly for 2 more runs.  Maddy pitched 5 strong innings giving up only 3 hits, 1 run and striking out 6, including the last 2 with the winning run in scoring position.  Great game girls!!

July 17 Summary:

10/11 BB New Tampa:  Won  9 - 4 over D-26 / Manatee East
NTLL Section IV Runner Up Champs

We needed a win for a chance to go to state, so we started another solid pitcher in Spencer McCabe. Spencer came out strong with 3 strikeouts in the first inning and pitched well giving up only 2 runs in 3 2/3 innings. Our offense started slow but had sparks early with a home run by Aaron Guiang, a double by Ethan Thomas and a triple by Spencer. With the heat index reaching 102 degrees, our bats got just as hot in the 4th inning. It all started with Henre Havre's first home run of the all star season, a blast to right-centerfield. That followed with Eddie Thinger, Dominic Diaz and Mikey Culumber reaching base consecutively before Jeffrey "I only hit grand slam home runs" Guttentag blasted his 2nd career grand slam! It didn't stop there as Aaron singled and Clayton Coringrato hit his team leading 6th home run of the summer. Bryce Martin, Brian Seybold and Tyler Woody all contributed to our solid defense. Clayton came on in relief of Spencer and pitched a strong 2 1/3 innings to close the game out. A honorable mention on defense goes out to Eddie Thinger who caught 5 innings in extreme afternoon heat after catching 4 innings in the morning.
Winning the game allowed New Tampa to be tied at 2-1 with both Plant City and Bloomingdale, but unfortunately New Tampa did not advance to state based on tie-breaker rules. Even though we beat Bloomingdale, we gave up 3 more runs than they did during the weekend, so they had the edge and will advance to state.
New Tampa finishes in 2nd place as runner-up champions at the Section IV tournament. This group of young men is one of the finest NTLL has ever had represent our park and it was a joy to watch them become a TEAM and have fun this summer!

10/11 BB New Tampa:  Lost  14 - 6 to D-4 / Plant City

New Tampa came out early today and played a very good game but unfortunately we allowed a 6-5 lead going into the top of the 6th to turn into a lop-sided loss. While the defense struggled in the last inning, that takes nothing away from some strong performances up to that point. The game started with a commanding pitching performance with Dominic Diaz on the mound. He worked magically through 4 2/3 innings keeping a strong Plant City offense off balance most of the day. While Dominic was on the mound the defense was looking good with key plays by Ethan Thomas, Jeffrey Guttentag, Mikey Culumber and Henry Havre. The crowd favorite play of the day though was a Dominic to Bryce Martin double-play from pitcher to first base. As usual Clayton Coringrato, Spencer McCabe and Aaron Guiang covered more ground in the outfield than sunlight does. The offense picked it's spots, but key doubles by Jeffrey, Ethan, Dominic, Brian Seybold and Eddie Thinger kept pushing hard earned runs across. Tyler Woody had one of his best at bats of the tournament with a 9 pitch at bat in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Up next...Manatee East at 2:00pm.

Little League SB: New Tampa Won 6 - 1 over D-4 / Lake Wales

The girls started off a little sluggish after the emotional win on Friday night and then having to come back to the the 1st game Saturday morning.  They were able to score 3 runs in the 1st inning on 3 hits.  Maddy Hall, Erica Matich and Skyler Boynton scored all 6 runs.  Makaleigh Dooley had 4 of the RBI's.  The 4 girls had a combined 8 for 11, 6 runs and 6 RBI's.  Makaleigh also provided the pitching for the 6 inning game giving up 4 hits and striking out 4.

Little League SB: New Tampa Won 15 - 5 over D-26 / North River
NTLL SECTION IV CHAMPIONS!! Move on to the State Tournament!!!

The only thing between New Tampa and the Sectional Championship was North River District 26.  The threat ended when we scored 9 runs in the 1st inning.  Things got a little interesting in the 3rd inning when North River cut the lead down to 5 and had the bases loaded, but a ground out put an end to the rally.  In our half of the 3rd inning, we scored 5 runs of our own and won 15 -5 in the mercy rule shortened game. For this Sectional tournament, Maddy Hall was 5 for 7 scoring 4 times, Erica Matich was 5 for 9 scoring 6 times and Skyler Boyton reached base 7 of 9.

GREAT JOB GIRLS!! State Tournament in Ft. Myers is up next. First game vs. Section 2 is Thursday @ 5:30.

10/11 SB: New Tampa Lost to 2 - 12 to D-25A / Land OLakes

10/11 SB: New Tampa Won 16 - 7 over D-13 / Bloomingdale
NTLL Section IV Runner Up Champs
The 10-11 softball lost the first game to LOL with a 12-2 score. However the second game was great as NTLL won 16-7. 4 strong innings from Ashlee Markovitz who had 7 strike outs and the last 2 innings by Alexis Ridolph who pitched great. Gracie Seidl played a strong ss, Tiler Rennard made 2 outstanding catches in center field with the last one being the game winner as she bobbeled the ball but made an outstanding catch as she fell to the ground, Alexis Ridolph gave us 10 strong innings behind the plate, Vivica Smith gave us strong defensive innings. Emily Gresham played a great 3rd base taking away some bunts by Bloomingdale. Mallory Mcmanus played an awesome 1st base saving and stretching for many plays, Danielle Buxton played a great left field and had a great shot to center field for a double. Sammy Scott played an unbelieveable right field making a throw out at first on an overthrown ball and was there backing up everything.

New Tampa only had 9 players and we are proud of each one of them for playing tuff and sticking it out thru the heat.

9/10 SB: New Tampa Lost 0 - 5 to D-13 / Bloomingdale

9/10 SB: New Tampa Lost 1 - 6 to D-4 / Lake Wales
NTLL Section IV Runner Up Champs

July 16 Summary:

10/11 BB New Tampa:  Won  4 -1  over D-13 / Bloomingdale

After getting out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 1st inning, NTLL came out with a strong offense in the bottom half of the inning. Jeffrey Guttentag and Aaron Guiang both got infield hits that was followed by a huge 3 run homer by Ethan Thomas to dead centerfield. Clayton Coringrato followed that up with a monster solo shot to right center field to give us a 4-0 lead. The only other offense we could get the rest of the night was a great hustle play by Henry Havre in the 4th inning and Bryce Martin and Spencer McCabe coming through in the bottom of the 5th. The story of the night though was the pitching domination by Bryce Martin. He threw a stellar 5 1/3 innings keeping Bloomingdale off balance all night. Bryce was supported by some of the best defense we've seen to date. Mikey Culumber, Dominic Diaz, Tyler Woody, Clayton, Ethan, Jeffrey and Aaron all made crucial defensive plays throughout the game. The defensive plays of the game came from Spencer who threw out 2 runners at 2B, once from RF and once from LF. The later was to rob a sure double from the hitter. Aaron came in in relief to close out the game for the final 2 outs and seal the victory. Eddie Thinger and Brian Seybold were rock solid walls behind the plate all night and both called a great game.

Little League SB: New Tampa Won 4 - 3 over D-13 Bloomingdale

The girls came away with a big 4 -3 win over Bloomingdale to start Sectional play.  Bloomingdale started the scoring with 2 runs in the 3rd inning on a couple of defensive errors, but our girls came right back in the bottom  of the inning to score 4 of our own.  Alyssa Wash reached base on an error and then Maddy Hall, Kamryn Beach and Erica Matich all came up with big hits with all scoring.  Bloomingdale got closer with a run the the 4th inning but the girls shut them down after that.  Maddy pitched all 6 innings spreading out 7 hits and 3 walks.  Bloomingdale hit the ball very well but our defense was up to the challenge as all 18 outs were made by defensive plays. All 10 girls contributed in one way or another to get the win.

9/10 SB: New Tampa Won 10 - 3 over D-26 North River

Championship "IF" Game Thursday July 8th 7:00 pm vs Land O"Lakes.
July 2 Summary:

10/11 BB New Tampa:  Won  14 - 4  over Land O'Lakes Blue

NTLL DISTRICT 25 CHAMPIONS!! Move on to the Section IV Tournament.

Tonight New Tampa won an impressive 14-4 four inning victory to record back-to-back district titles over a very formidable and resilient Land O Lakes team. The final score was not an indicator of the battle that took place during the first 3 innings. The game started with fireworks when Aaron Guiang (3rd of tournament) & Ethan Thomas (also 3rd) hit back-to-back homeruns. After a Clayton Coringrato single, Bryce Martin followed with his first homerun of the tournament to give New Tampa a 4-0 lead. Land O Lakes fought back with great hitting and if not for Mikey Culumber’s great defense at second base they would have done more than inch back to within 1 at

4-3 after 2 innings. New Tampa manufactured 3 runs in the top of the 3rd on doubles by Clayton and Brian Seybold and a great at bat by Tyler Woody. Land O Lakes, never giving up, came back with a strong bottom of the 3rd getting one run across the plate and closing in to make it 6-4. Jeffrey Guttentag saved a huge inning by recording an inning ending unassisted double play while at 2nd base. The top of the 4th got started with a typical New Tampa hustle play by Dominic Diaz beating out a close play at 1st base. We scored 8 times in the 4th with RBI’s by Ethan, Clayton, Bryce and Spencer McCabe. The icing on the cake was a 3 run homerun to dead centerfield by Eddie Thinger for his first career homerun at any level which gave New Tampa a 10 run lead. With Bryce battling and working hard and closing in on his pitch count, he took the mound in the bottom of the 4th knowing if we held Land O Lakes we could close the game in 4 innings. Bryce quickly got 2 outs but had to give way to Ethan after a truly gutsy performance. Ethan, chomping at the chance to close a district championship, threw 3 pitches and induced a tournament ending pop-out to centerfield. Throughout the tournament, nobody was more dedicated and hard working than Henry Havre. This was a complete TEAM championship from Henry to Ethan’s defense to Bryce’s pitching to Clayton’s power. Every player filled a role and supported each other! Our coaches were dedicated and our parents were amazing.

We’d like to thank NTLL BOD’s for their generosity with their time in hosting the tournament and an extra special thank you to Lou Pastore for spending countless hours at the fields doing everything he could to get our games in with this unpredictable weather!

We’d also like to thank all the teams, especially Land O Lakes for being a phenomenal opponent from their players to their coaches and their parents. Our games versus Land O Lakes is what Little League baseball is all about!

Next up for New Tampa…sectional tournament the weekend of July 16, 17 & 18.

June 30 Summary:

Junior BB New Tampa:  Won 7 - 6  over Land O'Lakes

An exciting game.  New Tampa never led until the end.  With bases loaded and down a run Joe Scicchitano put the ball in play they forced our runner out at home but threw the ball away allowing Derek French to score the tying run and Jason Canada to score the winning run.  Carter Gay had a great day out in Center Field catching everything hit to him.  John Berg, Tristan Deluna, Eric Kaminski, Brian Morand and Jason Canada led the hitting.  Sidney Adams once again showed his speed as he beat out a routine ground ball and then on the subsequent pitches scored.  Sidney brought New Tampa new life and we kept going from there.  Tristan Deluna also beat out a sure out that set up New Tampa for its initial scoring.  Alec Cordero came in to pitch and for 3 innings held the bats of Land O Lakes at bay.  Brian Morand came in the top of the 7th and completely dominated and shut them down such that New Tampa stayed in the game.  Jonathan Nieves while still keeping score became New Tampa’s biggest cheerleader and kept the team fired up.

Little League BB New Tampa:  Lost  2 - 4  to Temple Terrace

The NTLL offense faced a great Temple Terrace pitcher and despite having some opportunites, were unable to generate much offense.  Congrats to these kids for a great season.

Little League SB New Tampa:  Won  13 - 1  over Land O'Lakes

NTLL DISTRICT 25 CHAMPIONS!! Move on to the Section IV Tournament.
The Major softball All-Stars started their game with 6 hits and 6 runs in the 1st inning that lead to a 13 - 1 District Championship win. 8 of the 9 players came across home to score a run. Leading the way was Kamryn Beach going 3 for 3 and scoring all 3 times.  Makaleigh Dooley was also 3 for 3 scoring twice and knocking in 4.  Adding in on the hits was Erica Matich going 2 for 2, a walk and 3 runs scored. Meagan Bell was 2 for 3, Alyssa Wash, Lauren Bimonte and Reed Jahnke had a hit each.  Defensively, Meagan Bell came up firing from center field to throw out a runner trying to score. Maddy Hall threw a Land O' Lakes hitter out at first from center field.  (at least that is what the ump said)  Kamryn pitched 2 solid innings, Lauren gave us a 3 up, 3 down third inning and Meagan pitched the 4th giving up 1 run. For the 3 District games, the girls had 33 hits and 38 total runs with only 7 strikeouts.  The opponents only came up with 8 hits, 6 runs and had 24 strikeouts. Next up is the Bloomingdale Sectionals starting July 16th.

9/10 SB New Tampa:  Won 10 - 0  over Land O'Lakes

NTLL DISTRICT 25 CHAMPIONS!! Move on to the Section IV Tournament.
The 9/10 softball All-Stars defeated LOL 10-0 to take the District 25 title in a total team effort. Congratulations to manager Tony Bimonte, coach Frank Allen and all the ladies: Mackenzie Allen, Kristi Bimonte, Alex Dixon, Ysabella Dominguez, Ashley Figueiredo, Katie Hale, Lauren Hall, Kasey McKay, Reyonce' Parks, Hannah Perkins, and Emma Poole for outscoring their opponents 31-1 during the tournament.  Everyone did a great job with the sticks and played awesome defense. The girls move on to the Sectional tournament July 16th-18th in Bloomingdale.

June 29 Summary:

Little League BB New Tampa:  Lost  6 - 15  to Land O'Lakes

A Three hour rain delay and change of venue made for a rough night. NTLL struggled defensively and a good Land O Lakes team took full advantage of their opportunities.  Next game Wednesday against Temple Terrace.

10/11 BB New Tampa:  Won  9 - 5  over Land O'Lakes Blue

New Tampa faced our toughest game to date versus a strong and talented Land O Lakes team. Batting first we were able to manufacture a run on a Jeffrey Guttentag game-opening double and 2 batters later Ethan Thomas drove him in with a sacrifice fly. Land O Lakes took the lead in the bottom of the 1st, 3 – 1. The top of the 2nd started with a Spencer McCabe double, then with 1 out the lightning started and then came the rain. After a 2 ½ hour delay, and lots of field work by NTLL board members, we started again at 10pm. We traded a couple of runs including an Ethan Thomas HR (his 2nd of the tournament). Facing a dominating Land O Lakes relief pitcher and down 5 – 2 in the top of the 5th inning, New Tampa was primed to make a come back. With Jeffrey reaching on an error and Aaron Guiang coaxing a walk, Ethan followed with a RBI single making it 5 – 3. Then Clayton Coringrato hit a 3 run HR (his 4th of the tourney), possibly ripping a hole in the roof of a house behind field #3. With a 6 – 5 lead we added 3 insurance runs in the top of the 6th inning by batting around for the 2nd inning in a row. The defense was strong the entire night with leather being flashed all over the diamond, including several great plays at second base by Mikey Culumber. Eddie Thinger caught 5 strong innings behind the dish and Brian Seybold didn’t miss a beat with his time at catcher. Henry Havre and Tyler Woody continue with timely contributions. New Tampa pitching was strong again with Dominic Diaz pitching before the rain and Ethan coming on in relief for a strong 1 2/3 innings after the delay. Bryce Martin closed the game in what can best be described as a shut down performance. He pitched 3 1/3 innings on 39 pitches with 7 strikeouts, including striking out the side in the 4th inning.

New Tampa advances to the Championship game.

Junior BB New Tampa:  Won 15 - 0  over Zephyhills

New Tampa Junior All Stars beat Zephyrhills 15 – 5 in 5 innings.  New Tampa started out shaky and gave up 5 runs in the top of the first.  But great pitching from Anthony Grampietro and Brian Morand shut Zephyrhills down the rest of the way.  Sidney (Speedy Gonzales)  Adams walked to lead off the bottom of the first, they tried to pick him off and he ended up scoring all the way from first, setting the tone for New Tampa.  Jason Canada and Brian Morand powered the ball deep into the outfield again knocking in 5 runs between them.  Tristan Deluna had 2 great hits including the walk off double to win the game.  Alec Cordero made 2 great plays in the outfield and had 2 hits.  Once again Jonathan Nieves did a superb job with the book in the dugout, he did need a little medical attention because he was getting writers cramp.  He was quoted as saying “he did not write this much when he was in school”.  New Tampa plays Land O Lakes on Wednesday.

Little League BB New Tampa:  Won  11 - 1 over Zephyhills

New Tampa had another scorcher today both with the weather and the bats. After a quick defensive inning in the top of the 1st, New Tampa batted around in the bottom of the first and scored 11 runs. Jeffrey Guttentag, Aaron Guiang and Clayton Coringrato all scored twice in the 1st inning. Aaron, Mikey Culumber and Dominic Diaz all had one RBI each and Eddie Thinger (2), Ethan Thomas (2) and Clayton (4) had multiple RBI’s in the 1st inning. Aaron Guiang hit is 2nd of the tournament and Clayton hit his 2nd and 3rd of the tourney, with his 1st shot of the day possibly landing in Pasco County! Spencer McCabe, Tyler Woody and Brian Seybold continue to play flawlessly. Our pitching staff continues to push each other in a friendly competition of dominance. Dominic started the game pitching 2 masterful innings with only 1 hit allowed and 5 strikeouts, striking out the side in the 2nd inning. Ethan followed that by striking out the side in the 3rd on 12 pitches. Bryce Martin closed the game out 3 up and 3 down in the 4th with Henry Havre making a great game-ending play from 3rd to 1st. Up next for New Tampa is Land O Lakes on Tuesday June 29th at 7pm.

Kaitlyn Ridolph 2-3 with double and single and 2 RBIs - Jennifer Rennard 1-3 single - Nicole Stannard 1-4 with a bunt single.

Altogether in our best of three series vs. Dade City, NTLL scored 17 runs and allowed only 3 runs with 2 outstanding pitching performances by Leah Vail on 6/26 and Jennifer Rennard on 6/27.

June 26 Summary:

Junior BB New Tampa:  Won  14 - 1 over Temple Terrace

New Tampa Junior All Stars played their first game against the Temple Terrace All Stars.  New Tampa won 14-1 in 5 innings.  Sidney Adams started things off with a single and then stole second and third before Anthony Grampietro singled him home.  The flood gates opened from there. As New Tampa batted around the order.  Tristan Deluna had 3 RBIs.  Jason Canada and Brian Morand smashed balls that would have been out of our park but with the 320 foot fences landed for doubles.  Carter Gay had a great afternoon at the plate with 3 hits.  Evan Kaminski made a great run stopping play at third keeping Temple Terrace to only 1 run all game.  Joe Scicchitano, Alec Cordero, and Anthony Grampietro kept Temple Terrace off the base paths as they combined pitching for only 1 unearned run.  Eric Kaminski caught 2 long fly balls keeping Temple terrace off the base paths.  Derek French had 2 hits and 1 RBI at the plate.  Jonathan Nieves did a great job of keeping the book on the bench with his broken arm.  New Tampa plays Zephyrhills Sunday at 3:30pm at Zephyrhills.

Little League BB New Tampa:  Won  10 - 8 over North Seminole

Major BB:  NTLL wins 10-8 over North Seminole in Saturday's 1st round game.  Lots of pitching changes in the game plan as NTLL used 6 pitchers against a scrappy North Seminole team.  Next game is Sunday at 1:00 against Zephyrhills.

10/11 BB New Tampa:  Won  23 - 0 over Zephyhills

New Tampa came out today with bats as hot as the weather. We were staked to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and didn’t look back from there. It all started with Jeffrey Guttentag and Aaron Guiang going a combined 7 for 8, with 2 walks and with 9 runs scored and 5 RBI between them. The offense continued with a doubles barrage from Jeffrey (2), Bryce Martin, Spencer McCabe (2), Dominic Diaz, Mikey Culumber, Eddie Thinger and Henry Havre. Brian Seybold and Tyler Woody both contributed quality at bats for the offense. Not to be outdone by the 9 doubles in the game, three players added to their fence club status. Aaron Guiang hit a 3 run shot to left in the 2nd inning, Clayton Coringrato hit a MONSTER BOMB 2 run homer in the 3rd and Ethan Thomas put the icing on the cake with a GRAND SLAM in the 4th. As hot as the offense and the weather were, Spencer McCabe’s pitching may be best described as nuclear! He pitched 3 innings of no hit ball with 8 strikeouts with nobody getting past first base. With a 23-0 lead and a no hitter at stake, Aaron Guiang took the mound to close it out and did not disappoint by getting a game ending 1-6-3 double play. With pitching as dominant as that, the only additional thing we can add about the defense was Eddie Thinger and Henry Havre called a great game behind the plate and kept their pitchers on track. Up next, Lutz Red vs New Tampa Sunday June 27th at 1:00pm.

JR SB New Tampa:  Won  11 - 0 over Zephyhills

JR SB beat Dade City this afternoon at LOL 11-0 in a full 7 inning game. Leah Vail pitched a 2 hitter and dominated the entire 7 innings while driving in 2 RBIs with a Double after 2 outs recorded.  Also contributing with strong bats were Nicky Dixon with a Double, Maria Horvath with a hard hit Single and 2 RBIs, Kaitlyn Ridolph with a Single and strong catching behind the plate for 7 innings with NO past balls as well as and Jennifer Rennard hitting a strong Double to the OF with an RBI.  Altogether, the team played almost flawless defense with only 1 Error recorded in the 7 inning game. Strong contribution on fielding, base stealing and runs scored from Nicole Stannard, Nikki Keesee, Gabbi Jacobs, Maddy McCabe, Kayla Maczuga and Haley Hawkins.
Our next game is schedule for Sunday, 6/27 at 5:30pm at LOL vs.Dade City in a best of three format.

June 24 Summary:

9/10 BB New Tampa National (Price):  Lost  6 - 10 to Temple Terrace

The long nights finally caught up to the New Tampa National team as their tournament ended in a 10-6 loss to Temple Terrace. New Tampa had solid pitching from Aaron Muench and Ricardo Viloria, but a couple mental and physical miscues - along with a sluggish offense - were just too much to overcome. Temple Terrace held the powerful New Tampa offense to just 1 run for the first 5 innings. New Tampa's offense came alive in the 6th, but it was just a little too late. Ricardo and Aaron both scored, as well as Frank Scarchilli, Tyler Coffey and Simon Carapella. We saw a couple defensive gems from Luke Paulson who made a diving catch to kill a rally and end the 1st inning, and Ethan Sutton who made a play at the plate as Temple Terrace ran a delayed steal trying to score the game clinching run in the bottom of the 4th. New Tampa also saw great effort from Kyle Fontenot, Greg Taylor, Connor Price, Kyler Peterson, and Evan Tiller. It's been said that you can tell a person's character by how they handle defeat. These young men exemplified great character. All of New Tampa should be proud of these young men and how well they represented our league and our community.

June 23 Summary:

9/10 BB New Tampa National (Price):  Won  34 - 16 to over Lutz Red

The long nights continue for the New Tampa National team - 3 1/2 hours to play the 6 inning game. This time it wasn't rain or lightning, it was a scrappy Lutz Red team that just continued to fight back. Each time the New Tampa National team built what appeared to be a comfortable lead, the boys from Lutz would scratch back. As they say "the game was a lot closer than the score would indicate." It wasn't until the last inning when Lutz ran out of pitching that New Tampa put the game out of reach scoring all their runs on walks and a few very long singles - new Tampa did not have an extra base hit in the last inning. The 6th inning was also the only inning in which New Tampa held Lutz scoreless. The offensive explosion was led by Kyle Fontenot - 5 for 6 w/ 6 runs scored; Greg Taylor - 4 for 6 w/ 5 runs scored; Ricardo Viloria - 2 for 4 w/ 4 runs scored; Simon Carapella - 4 for 6 w/ 3 runs scored; Kyler Peterson - 4 for 6 w/ 3 runs; Ethan Sutton - 2 for 2 w/ 3 runs scored; and Connor Price - 1 for 4 w/ 3 runs. New Tampa also had some stellar defensive plays. Luke Paulson showed great range at second base robbing Lutz of an RBI single. Aaron Muench also made an inning ending - rally killing - play at 1st to pull New Tampa out of a big jam. New Tampa used 6 pitchers who combined for throwing 62% of their pitches for strikes. The pitching accuracy was led by Tyler Coffey and Evan Tiller who were both threw 75% of their pitches for strikes. Frank Scarchilli closed out the game striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.

9/10 BB New Tampa American (Rubin):  Lost  5 - 6 to Temple Terrace

New Tampa American showed a great deal of character in losing to Temple Terrace and
unfortunately being eliminated in the tournament.  New Tampa American came to play after
a tough couple of nights prior which included starting a game at Temple Terrace Little League
and driving up to Dade City Little League to try and play the game.  After torrential rain and strong
lightning in both places the game was finally called and restarted Tuesday night which resulted
in a loss to LOL Blue.  On Wednesday the boys gave it a great effort but ended up losing a well
played game by both teams.  New Tampa American runs were scored by Jonathan Rodrigues,
Nicholas Dicecco(2), AJ Andrews, and Tripp Dillon.  Zach Novo contributed a nice sacrifice bunt
to put runners in scoring position in the first inning and a key RBI to put New Tampa ahead 5-4 in
the top of the 5th.  Outstanding pitching was turned in by starter Patrick Cheuvront and Sam Chronister
who came in relief with runners on base.  Strong defensive plays were made by outfielders Kevin
Gallagher and Luke Ford, first baseman Joey Bosio and catcher Jacob Rubin.  The boys battled
to the very end but unfortunately the Baseball Gods weren’t with us on a couple of pivotal plays.

June 21 Summary:

9/10 BB New Tampa National (Price):  Won 17 - 1 over Zephyrhills

Once again, the young National team patiently waited out a couple lightning delays before another big win, beating Zephyrhills 17-1 in a 4 inning game. The offensive production was led by Ricardo Viloria who hit 2 home runs. While all 9 spots in the order produced, other key contributors on offense were: Simon Carapella - 2 for 3 with 4 runs scored; Kyle Fontenot - 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored; and Connor Price - 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. Tyler Coffey added to the offensive production with a key base hit and a run scored. Frank Scarchilli and Kyler Peterson provided our pitchers with great defensive plays at 3rd base. The pitching performance was led off by Ethan Sutton, who pitched a shutout out 1st inning. Greg Taylor and Evan Tiller came on in relief in the 2nd and 3rd inning to continue the shutout. Luke Paulson relieved Evan and pitched out of a jam in the 3rd - runners on 2nd and 3rd. Finally, Aaron Muench closed out the game after inheriting a bases loaded situation in the 4th.

9/10 BB New Tampa American (Rubin):  Lost 1 - 24 to Land O'Lakes Blue

Another long day at the ball park for the National team - a 5 hour rain delay and over 7 hours from start to finish. Greg Scored 3 times and Connor scored 4. A few other offensive stars were Kyler Peterson, 3-for3 w/ 4 runs scored; Simon Carapella, 3-for-4 w/ 3 runs scored; Kyle Fontenot, 2-for-3 w/ 3 runs scored; and Aaron Muench, 2-for-2 w/ 2 doubles and 4 RBIs (including a walk off 2 RBI double). New Tampa had stellar pitching from Ricardo Viloria - 14 pitches to open the game, and Aaron Muench - 35 pitches in 2 innings of shutout baseball. The offense was led by timely hitting and heads up base running from Simon Carapella and Kyle Fontenot - who each scored twice, and Frank Scarchilli who had a clutch triple down the right field line. Michael Stone, Kyler Peterson and Luke Paulson also scored for the New Tampa Nationals. Tyler Coffey helped prevent a double play with great hustle down the first base line. The defense was led by inning saving catches by Connor Price -  1 diving catch and 1 running back to the fence, Evan Tiller and Greg Taylor. Ethan Sutton threw out a runner trying to steal second and caught 5 solid innings behind the plate.

9/10 BB New Tampa American (Rubin):  Won 15 - 5 over Land O'Lakes Gold

New Tampa American took a 2-0 lead after the first inning.  After a 90 minute rain delay LOL gold came back to tie.  New Tampa American went up 3-2 in the top of the 4th only to have LOL take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth.  The game was kept close with a great defensive play to end the bottom of the 4th on a throw home from Center Fielder Zach Novo to Catcher Jacob Rubin.  After giving up another run in the bottom of the 5th to fall behind 5-3, AJ Andrews made a nice catch in right field to end any further scoring.  With one out and nobody on, trailing 5-3 in the top of the 6th New Tampa American exploded for 12 runs to take a 15-5 lead and closed it out in the bottom of the 6th for the victory.  New Tampa American received stellar pitching from Patrick Cheuvront who started and worked into the 4th inning.  He was followed up in relief by Sam Chronister who kept the game close and Nicholas Dicecco who closed out the victory.  The offense was lead with 2 hits each by Jonathan Rodrigues, Patrick Cheuvront, Joey Bosio, and Jacob Rubin.  It was a total team effort on offense with each spot in the batting order scoring at least 1 run.  Stellar offensive and defensive contributions were also made by Luke Ford, Tripp Dillon and Kevin Gallagher.
