Grand Master Greg Ferry has been dedicated to the disciplines of Martial Arts since he began his training in 1977 under an original Korean Master. His many years of experience have earned him several high rankings and honors which make him one of the most well respected Martial Artists in the United States today.
On July 25th 2009, Greg Ferry earned the rank and was promoted to 8th Dan, Grand Master in the ITF style of Tae Kwon Do. This honor was bestowed upon him by the world-renowned Soke Michael DePasquale Jr. Grand Master Ferry also holds a black belt in the WTF Tae Kwon Do style as well rankings in Jiu Jitsu and Hap Ki Do. He has also held several national rankings for competitive free sparring, forms and weapons. In addition to his rankings, he has also been awarded several honors which include the Samurai Award for lifetime achievement from the International Federation of Jujutsuans. He was also named Master of the Year and inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame class of 2006.
Grand Master Ferry owns and operates Central Iowa Martial Arts in Des Moines, Iowa and has been invited to provided instruction at such national events as Karate College in Virginia and Martial Arts University in New York. Over the years he has instructed countless students in the ITF style of Tae Kwon Do and MMA training. His students have included those who have competed and ranked in local and national martial arts tournaments as well as several MMA cage fighting title holders.
Since 1980, Gtand Master Ferry has built and maintained his school as one of the most well respected schools in the Midwest. The key to this success is that Grand Master Ferry has remained faithful to the traditional values of this revered martial art. While some schools choose to focus on business, Grand Master Ferry has continued to focus on teaching technique, meaning, power and discipline as the original Korean Masters had intended. As a result, Central Iowa Martial Arts has produced some tremendous martial artists in addition to hundreds of men, women and children who are leading more enriched lives thanks to the lessons of discipline and respect which they have learned while studying and practicing traditional martial arts with a true Master.
Begining in January of 2010, Grand Master Ferry will be introducing his own martial arts style known as Integrated Defense Tactics (IDT). IDT offers real-life self defense tactics which incorporates a unique blend of martial arts styles including Tae Kwon Do, Hap Ki Do, and Brazilian and Japanese Jiu Jitsu. IDT will give students the opportunity to become proficient in a wide range of stand-up, weapons and ground fighting.
