Indoor Football Reminders

Attention Coaches!
Updated 5/3/2010

1.
Rules that need to be Reviewed: Maryland Youth Football wants to remind all Indoor participants of the following:

  • Appropriate ball sizes are listed in the 'Football Rules' section, teams must follow the ball size listings. Referees have been instructed to check ball sizes prior to the start of the game, teams caught using incorrect ball sizes will forfeit the game.
  • No one can have Gum on the field at any location; any player, coach, or spectator chewing gum on the field will be ejected from the game and asked to leave the facility.
  • Any team that forfeits a game must pay the referee fees for their team and the team they were scheduled to play ($60 total) by the Wednesday following that weekend's game. All late payments will be assessed a $20 late fee and that team will not be eligible to play until the balance has been settled.
  • Head coaches are responsible for the conduct of their parents and players, ANY inappropriate interaction between opposing team's players, coaches, parents, referees, ect. deemed inappropriate by the referee or a MDYF Oversight Board member can result in a penalty, ejection, or suspension.
  • Sidelines are to be clear for referees and players, spectators should only view indoor games from behind the net or glass. No one, besides the players, coaches (four), referees, a clock operator (home team), or MDYF Oversight Board Members are allowed on the field during game play.
  • Game time is forfeit time, if your team is not on the field by the scheduled start time the referees have the authority to call the game.
  • Players MUST arrive and check-in with the the opposing coach prior to the start of the second half, otherwise he CANNOT play.
  • Players CAN line up over then center, but are not forced to.
  • Sportsmanship is a MUST, teams found guilty of displaying poor sportsmanship will run the risk of forfeiting games or being removed from the league.
  • All coaches and players are to remain on their assigned side of the field, teams will be warned once by the referee, and the second offense will result in a penalty.

2.
Parents with video cameras: Maryland Youth Football wants to feature all of the hard hitting action from the 2010 Indoor League, but the fact is Steve and I can only be at two of the six locations at one time. If you record your games every week and would like to submit your team's exciting plays to be featured on the weekly Indoor Football Highlight video, contact Steve at 443-878-3445.

Playoff Structure

Indoor Football

Check out the MarylandYouthFootball.com Indoor Football League Flier: Indoor football.pdf

Indoor football in Maryland is heading into its 4th season in 2010, featuring competition from over 120 teams across the state. Marylandyouthfootball.com will host the indoor league this year to maximize state competition and visibility. MDYF's indoor model creates a uniform format for all MD indoor teams, from which teams will be invited to compete in an Indoor State Championship at the end of the season!

Indoor football was developed to give children the opportunity to play tackle football with their peers regardless of weight in a fun and safe environment.  Our goal is to provide a place for children who only like to play football and a place for children who wanted to play a spring sport as well as football. The practice and game schedules are less intense then the fall season.  Please keep in mind that the league has doubled every year and there are constant improvements. Operationally we are learning as we go so some patience and flexibility is needed.

Each team that participates in the Marylandyouthfootball.com indoor football league will be guaranteed 8 games, there will be 8 players per team on the field during game play, and the league will run April 1st through June. All indoor games are one hour, with a running clock so there is no need to worry about game delays! Indoor football is a high intensity, hard hitting, and fast paced game so be ready for some great highlights!
